We are seeking a hardware service engineer to learn and execute the necessary activities required to support our building, maintenance, and service contracts in a growing line of optical metrology, imaging, and automation systems.

The candidate must have a solid understanding of automation test equipment at the system level. Optical metrology experience is preferred. The position may be field-based, and thus the candidate must be willing and able to install, troubleshoot and repair MTF test equipment onsite at our customer locations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate customer service skills and technical knowledge with a high level of passion.
  • Demonstrate ability to quickly learn skills associated with optical testing, imaging, cameras, and metrology and utilizing optical, mechanical, and electronics aptitudes.
  • Be solutions-oriented with ability to work independently in a fast paced and innovative environment.
  • Travel requirement is up to 50% depending on needs, mostly domestic locations. Able and willing to work in customer locations for 1-2 months if need.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • BS in Physics, Electronics, Optics, Mechanics, or equivalent in Engineering Technology
  • Previous experience such as installing, troubleshooting optical imaging, optical alignment, cameras, machine vision, motion stages, electronics, optical and electronic sensors, automatic control systems preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer service aptitude is required.

We are seeking an optical engineer / optics manufacturing expert for a position as an Engineering Director to guide our Thailand-based advanced optical manufacturing facility. This facility focuses on the development and manufacturing of advanced optical solutions, from application-based equipment such as optical metrology instrumentation, fully automated in-line test stations, optical functional modules, to individual optical components for semiconductor, bio-medical, consumer electronics and other industries. This position will provide onsite technical guidance to local and remote engineer teams, and interface with strategic customers in conjunction with global sale and marketing teams.

Job Type:

Onsite full-time / contractor based in Thailand (primary location) and home (secondary)

Responsibilities:

  • Build and grow strong factory-based multi-disciplinary engineering

Requirements:

  • +10 years’ experience in optical engineering and development in a manufacturing or R and D environment

Job Description

  • Lead early involvement in product development process for concept / manufacturability review, risk assessment, new process evaluation, definition and validation. 
  • Engage in engineering prototype builds to define initial manufacturing process flow, identify tools / fixtures needed, and draft preliminary work instructions. 
  • Act as project leader to drive preparation of NPI including pilot duration / schedule, material preparation, tool/fixture preparation and design, BOM/Drawing review, test setups, performance tuning, online testing for trouble shooting, and initial training of NPI technicians and operators. 
  • Organize pilot runs and production simulations, routing time counting and line balancing, verify and continuously improve yield and efficiency, define yield / efficiency targets for mass-production. 
  • Work closely with design engineers to address identified manufacturability / yield issues, drive for results. 
  • Work with quality engineer and team to issue / revise DFM/PFMEA/PFMEA/Control Plan/Inspection standard. 
  • Perform new product production readiness review, including mass production training plan, tool / fixture / equipment readiness, BOM/Drawing readiness, and test setup readiness review. 
  • Lead technicians and on-line trainers to execute training plans for mass-production lines. 
  • Review and follow up first mass-production to identify issues / risks and improvement plans, and transfer to with production Product Engineers. 
  • Lead cost reduction projects to meet the Product Introduction Plan goals. 

Job Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in optical, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering or relevant areas of study 
  • More than 10 years’ experience in NPI or production / process engineering 
  • Familiar with new optical product development / new product introduction process 
  • Knowledge of 6-sigma concept and ability to use associated tools effectively 
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills for systematic and logical problem solving 
  • Solid written and oral English skills 
  • Team player, diligent and results-oriented 
  • Project management and leadership skills 
  • Must be willing to engage in short-term overseas business travel to support production transfer

  • Draft and conduct research plans and/or proposals; prepare and/or edit presentations on the President’s behalf
  • Maintain awareness of the President’s team communication and provide feedback; help to tailor presentations to communicate effectively with each audience
  • Kick-start business initiatives including event management and supporting various visitors both internal and external
  • Any other tasks as directed by the President.
